I wonder about the figure of the servant. What would a comparison of the figure of the servant in Victorian and Edwardian novels yield? How would students approach a comparison of Downton Abbey, a series, with Robert Altman’s Gosford Park, a stand alone movie? Maybe a quick peek at the summaries at IMDb… with the 1970s Upstairs Downstairs as a base line.
